What we believe here at Ridley Hall is based upon the sure foundation and truth of God's Word, the Bible. The Bible explains to us the meaning of life - giving our life a purpose and providing us with a sure and certain hope for the future. But the Bible also contains serious warnings about the consequences of breaking God's Law - something we should all take seriously as the choices we make here on earth have an eternal impact on our never-dying souls. To this end the Bible gives us a faithful and trustworthy account of God's dealings with men and women here on earth and so reveals to us both bad and the good news...
We have all rebelled against the God who created us! The Bible calls this rebellion 'sin' - as we have broken God's perfect and Holy Law ('All have sinned and come short of the glory of God'). Because God is Holy and just, he cannot compromise with sin and therefore justice demands that a penalty must be paid by the offender.
God knows that we cannot pay this penalty for breaking His perfect Law ourselves - so out of His great love and mercy He sent His only Son Jesus Christ to this world. Christ took upon Himself a human body like our own and was named 'Jesus', which means 'Saviour'.
Jesus lived a perfect and sinless life, completely obeying and keeping God's Law. Then, at the appointed time, He gave up His life upon the cross at Calvary as a perfect sacrifice. On the cross, Jesus Christ took upon Himself the eternal punishment of all those who would place their trust in Him - and in their place paid the price of their sin before God.
The Bible says, 'The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin'.
But the story didn't end there! On the third day after His death, Jesus rose victoriously from the grave - conquering sin and death. He then returned to His Father in Heaven, promising his followers that He would one day return to judge the world and take them home.
If we repent of our sin and place a trust in Jesus Christ we can receive forgiveness and enter into a restored relationship with with God. The Bible says, 'There is therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus'. Every day, those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ prove Him to be faithful and true in every circumstance of life. Jesus said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you'. This is the wonderful answer God provides to the problem of sin and suffering in this sad world. It doesn't matter how bad you think you may be, what you've said or done - there is complete forgiveness and freedom to be found in Jesus, who 'ever lives to make intercession for those who put their trust in Him'.
If we believe in God, and in His way of salvation through His Son Jesus Christ, then an eternal life of peace and happiness in Heaven after death is a certain. But, if we reject God and His Son and die in unbelief - we face an eternity of separation from Him in a place darkness and suffering that the Bible calls 'Hell'.
There is a day coming - the end of days - when every human being that has ever lived will be called to give an account for our actions here on earth before the judgement seat of Christ. We urge you to seriously consider your own soul - and your condition before God. That is why we here at Ridley Hall seek to tell people the Gospel as often as we can - because it's the most important and far-reaching news you will ever hear.
